Did the DNC Conspire to Murder Seth Rich? By Shane Warren

Did the DNC Conspire to Murder Seth Rich?

Or are allegations of this nature unchecked garbage feeding the ever expanding appetite of conspiracy theorists desperate to make the DNC look not just corrupt, but directly responsible for murder?

Before evaluating the truth, it’s helpful to have some background on the case.

On July 10th of last year, a Democratic Staffer named Seth Rich, age 27, was shot multiple times in the back only a block and a half from the red brick DC apartment he lived in. This came after Rich had recently received a promotion to a position in Clinton’s campaign. While police suspected that he was robbed, that version of events doesn’t match the cellphone, credit cards, and wallet left on his body after the gunshot wounds.

Adding suspicion to the matter was an FBI forensic report of Rich’s computer, which, an anonymous federal investigator told Fox News, contained evidence that Rich had exchanged 44,053 e-mails and 17,761 attachments from the DNC with Gavin Macfayden, a since-deceased director of WikiLeaks.

Enter Julian Assange’s comments, and suddenly you have a conspiracy. When he offered a $20,000 dollar reward for information leading to a conviction, right wing and progressive media alike were livid. Article after article after article they wrote, speculating on what motivated Assange to give such a high reward for solving the Seth Rich mystery. Was his death connected to the WikiLeaks exposure of the Clinton campaign e-mails just 3 months earlier?)

As such, Assange’s tweet clarifying that he’s not implying Rich’s death was connected to WikiLeaks didn’t stop the conspiracy theories from spreading like wildfire.

Now, nearly a year later, a bombshell claim by private investigator Rod Wheeler has resurged interest in Rich’s death. According to him, Seth Rich’s computer contains hard evidence of three things.

Seth Rich was involved in revealing Clinton’s campaign e-mails to WikiLeaks.
This involvement is what led to his death.
The police and/or FBI are actively covering up the truth.

Wheeler elaborates on these claims by stating that the FBI and DC Police Departments  “haven’t been cooperating at all” and that he has a source within the police department telling him that “we were told to stand down on this case and I can’t share any information with you”. Taken at face value, these kinds of statements do not bode well for the DNC’s innocence.

If you stop reading here, you’ll walk away thinking that Wheeler found a smoking gun which confirms the worst suspicions about the DNC’s involvement in Seth Rich’s death. That claim, however, is rife with complications.

First off, Wheeler himself admits that he’s never seen Seth Rich’s computer. Instead, he “believe[s]” that the smoking gun “sits on his computer on a shelf at the DC Police or FBI headquarters.”

Second, Rich’s own family disputes Wheeler’s claims. Rich’s family’s spokesperson, Brad Bauman, reminds us that “emails can be altered” by people pushing for a conspiracy-driven narrative. In a bluntly worded elaboration while talking to  Business Insider. , Bauman exclaimed, “It’s sad but unsurprising that a group of media outlets who have repeatedly lied to the American people would try and manipulate the legacy of a murder victim in order to forward their own political agenda.”

The family’s skepticism may be explained by the fact that Rod Wheeler wasn’t actually hired by them. In fact, his family states that Wheeler’s services were “offered to the Rich family and paid for by a third party.” These circumstances beg the question: Just who is Wheeler’s employer, and what are their end goals?

As of yet, there is no answer to this inquiry. All we can do is sit back and wait for some hard evidence.

Regardless of the true explanation of Rich’s murder, though, there’s a broader point that needs to be made. If the DNC were innocent in this case, that in no way would negate their demonstrated contempt and disrespect for left-leaning independents, Progressive Democrats, and the American Electorate.  You don’t have to be a murderer to be a bad person, and the DNC doesn’t have to be one to maintain their status as an out-of-touch institution that spits on their own promises of impartiality and fairness.

If you agree, you’ll want to click here to read about the upcoming class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of Bernie Supporters to hold the DNC accountable for their unfair bias towards Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Primaries of 2016. This lawsuit makes one thing clear: Whether or not Seth was murdered, the Democratic Party has a lot to answer for.
