Donald Trump signs Waiver relocating US Embassy in Israel

Via UBC News  –  United States President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a waiver to delay relocating the US Embassy in Israel from to Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, avoiding a controversial decision that would have jeopardized his efforts to begin Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.⠀
Trump, who vowed during the 2016 presidential campaign to move US embassy to Jerusalem, chose instead to continue his predecessors’ policy of signing a six-month waiver overriding a 1995 law requiring that the embassy should be relocated to Jerusalem.⠀

A White House official said the president remains committed to his campaign pledge and would eventually fulfill it, though no timetable has been set.⠀

He later argued that the decision not to move the embassy was made to optimize the opportunities of the US successfully negotiating a deal between Israel and the Palestinians.⠀
