Via The War Files – A truck bomb blasted through the center of Kabul’s diplomatic district, killing 90 people (so far) and wounding hundreds, in an explosion described by officials to be “one of the biggest to have hit the capital.” The Canadian and German embassies sustained damage, and an Afghan security guard for the German embassy was killed, with multiple staffers wounded. Basir Mujahid, a spokesman for the city police, said the IED’s were hidden in a sewage tanker. The French, British and Australian embassies were also damaged by the explosion. The truck bomb went off on a main road near the German embassy. The attack came a week after Germans diplomats received a warning that the Haqqani network, an Islamic terrorist group, wanted to target the German embassy. The Taliban has also denied any involvement.
