Via Atlas News – British PM Theresa May has ordered a full public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire. This comes as the confirmed number of deaths hits 17, but the death toll is expected to reach over 100 as dozens of residents are unaccounted for. Officials said there is no hope in finding any more survivors in the rubble and that rescue operations have shifted to recovery operations. Thirty people remain in the hospital, 10 of which are in critical condition. Although the cause of the fire is still not confirmed, reports suggest that many fire safety hazards were ignored. Residents also reported that fire alarms never sounded when the fire first began. The fire quickly engulfed the 24 story building, trapping many of its residents. As the fire moved its way up, children were seen banging on glass windows as smoke filled their rooms as some residents jumped to escape the flames. Several of the trapped victims took to social media in their final moments asking for prayers and help. The incident has caused public outrage over public safety in such instances.
