NATO soldier was killed and five others were injured, when a Taliban suicide bomber struck a patrol

Earlier today, a NATO soldier was killed and five others were injured, along with an interpreter, when a Taliban suicide bomber struck a patrol in Afghanistan.

This incident is separate from Wednesday’s, when two US soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing carried out on their convoy (see the previous post). The attack took place earlier this afternoon in the Qarabagh District (Kabul), according to the press service of Operation Resolute Support, NATO’s mission in Afghanistan.

The nationality/identity of the fallen soldier hasn’t been released. Resolute Support is a NATO-led mission to “train, advise, and assist Afghan government forces.” The patrol “was on a partnered mission with the ANA (Afghan National Army)  when it was attacked by a personnel-borne IED”, according to a statement released by NATO.
