Kylie Jenner is on track to be running a billion dollar company by 2022. Ms. Jenner, who is known for starring on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and her upcoming show, “Life of Kylie,” has garnered $420 million in the past 18 months with her brand, Kylie Cosmetics. According to her manager, her mother Kris Jenner, Kylie Cosmetics has had an increase in sales of 25 percent this year alone, with no stop of growth insight.
The 20 year old began the business in late November, 2015, when she released 3 lip shades. Now, Kylie Cosmetics offers a number of products, including highlighter, blush, eyeshadow, and most famously, lip kits. Her products have been released in waves, including the Birthday Collection, the Vacation Collection, and most recently, the 20 Birthday Collection. Kylie Cosmetics has also featured collaborations with both Khloe and Kim Kardashian.
Kylie, following in the steps of her sisters, whose brands include Dash, KKW Cosmetics, and Good American, is stepping out to make a name for herself. While sister Kim originally brought attention to herself for her sextape, “Kim Kardashian Superstar”, Kylie is hoping to maintain a clean slate while maintaining her celebrity entrepreneur status.
Critics have attributed her success to the fact that she was already famous from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” However, if there is something to be said for the fact that Kim turned a sextape into a billion dollar empire, then there is certainly something to be said for the effort Kylie is putting into her company.
Kylie Cosmetics is currently only sold online, aside from two temporary pop up shops in Los Angeles and New York City. However, fans speculate that she will make a move to get a permanent presence in shopping centers in the near future.
