At least eight individuals were killed and 12 injured in Lower Manhattan, New York when a truck rammed into people on a cycling path on Tuesday afternoon.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the attack on a bike path a “particularly cowardly act of terror.”

The male driver was yelling “Allahu akbar” as he drove into the path, according to witnesses, before getting out of the vehicle welding a paintball and pellet gun.
A police officer shot the man in the stomach before arresting the suspect named as Uzbek national Sayfullo Saipov, aged 29, by local media.
The rented Home Depot truck had been driven by Mr. Saipov down West St-Houston St path shortly after 3:00 pm for several blocks before slamming into the side of a school bus, injuring two children and two adults on board.
Daesh (IS) has reportedly claimed responsibly.
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said there was no evidence of a “wider plot”, calling the incident a “lone wolf attack.”
US President Donald Trump tweeted around two hours later that it “looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person.”
The White House released a full statement saying the president’s “thoughts and prayers” are with the victims and their families.
Emergency medical services, police and a bomb squad arrived at the West Side Highway near Vesey St where the “mass casualty incident” occurred soon after.
