At least 24 were killed after a gunman opened fire in a Texas church in the town of Sutherland Springs on Sunday afternoon in the United States.

Sheriff Joe Tackitt told Wilson County News and The Anon Journal that there were “multiple casualties and multiple fatalities” and that the suspect was “taken down.”

Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr confirmed 20 fatalities and an additional 20 injured an hour after emergency services were called to the scene at Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

Some reports say that 27 were killed in the attack, with the exact number unclear at this time.
